One Month Check Up

We took Savannah in for her one month doctor visit today and found out that she now weighs 10 lbs. 14.5 oz. and is 22 in. long. I thought that her weight gain may have been slowing down, but I was wrong! She went from the 8oth percentile in height and weight and 75th for head size to the 95th percentile in height and weight and 8oth for head size! She is doing great and looking very healthy! She has a slight hernia in her belly button (nothing very noticable and it should go away in about a year or so). She also has an intolerence for the dairy that I eat that she's getting from my milk, so no more dairy products for me! This will be very hard for me- I'm a huge dairy fan! But it should help with her be less uncomfortable. Her daddy held her while she got a shot and she melted our hearts with her sad little cry, but she did great. We're so proud of our little (or maybe I should say "big") girl!

Can you believe she fit inside me only 4 weeks ago!?!

Belly Button

After one month exactly, Savannah's umbellical cord finally fell off! We've read that it's supposed to fall off in the first week or two, but her's hung on for an entire month. We finally got to see what her cute little belly button looks like and thought we'd share it with you all!

Heading to Church

We made it to church for the first time this week. We only went to the service, but Savannah did great! She started to get a little upset while we were singing and I got nervous she would get too loud so we picked her up and she slept in our arms the rest of the service. I was so thankful! What a sweet little girl we have!

Tummy Time

Savannah started having "tummy time" this week. She does really well with it. She doesn't last too long before getting upset, but we can already tell a difference since the first time we put her on her playmat. She really seems to enjoy it most of the time! She mostly just licks the mat, but anyone who knows Savannah shouldn't be surprised by that.

Cousin Addie

This weekend Toby and Valerie came to meet Savannnah. Savannah's cousin Addie came too. We had a great time. Aunt Valerie was great with Savannah! She gave me a little break and Savannah loved being in her arms. And sweet Addie kept us laughing! She is such a smart little girl and will make a great big sister! We can't wait to meet the next little Porth, who should be arriving very soon!

First Outdoor Adventure

Today we took Savannah for a walk through the neighborhood. It was such a beautiful day. She sat in the Baby Bjorn on her daddy's chest and seemed quite content. She spent almost the entire walk just staring up at Cole. It was so sweet! We stopped by to say "hi" to our friend Ethan and then headed back home. It was a short walk because it got warm fast, but it went very well. Now that the weather is getting so nice, we hope to go on a lot more walks.

Visit from the Grandparents!

Grandmama and Granddaddy Varner came to visit Savannah this week. They were a huge help for Lorren and did a great job with Savannah. She loves her grandparents!
And they are spoiling her already! They ran out to Target and came home with a bag of new clothes, some hair bows, and the cutest little pair of sunglasses for their granddaughter. She loved modeling all her new stuff for us. Especially her sunglasses!
Joelle, this picture is for you. What a mouth!

2 Week Dr. Appointment

Today we took Savannah to her 2 week doctor's appointment. By this point, the doctors like to see a newborn get back to their birthweight. Well, Savannah's birthweight was 7lb. 13oz. and today she weighed 9lb. 4.5oz.! She is a very healthy baby girl. She is measuring in the 75th percentile for weight and head size and the 80th percentile in length. Our last 24 hours have gone very well! I think we may be figuring out her feeding pattern- and after the appointment we had today, I don't have to worry about her being underfed! Here are a few pictures of our little girl from the past week.

Here's Savannah in her new onsie from her buddy Eden!

And this is her in her warm bear outfit. It was so cute on her! But with the warm weather coming, it will probably be the only time she'll get to wear it!

The Cousins Finally Meet!

After 9 months of being pregnant and due five days after my sister (who was pregnant with twin girls), all three girls are finally here and ended up being 4 weeks apart. Joelle and David were brave enough to make the 7 hour drive from Atlanta with their 5 week old twins and their Aunt Katie flew in from Cincinnatti so that we could all be together (except for Uncle Brent- we missed you Brother!) It was so amazing to see all three girls together. God has truly blessed our family. These girls will have so many great times growing up so close in age!

First Week Home

Savannah has had a great first week home. Her gramma Kruithof stayed for the week to help us get adjusted and we were so thankful for all her help! Savannah is a very alert little girl with her eyes typically wide open! Her mouth is typically wide open as well. She loves to eat! It has been a week of recovery and trying to figure everything out, but we're doing well. Cole is a natural daddy and loves Savannah like crazy! He has been a huge help and is a pro at swaddling her and giving her kisses! She is such a gift to our little family!

Here's Gramma helping to give Savannah her first bath.
And here is our sweet little angel having very happy dreams!

Going home!

After a day and a half in the hospital, we got to bring Savannah home! The hospital stay went well and Savannah checked out to be a very healthy 7lb. 13oz. baby measuring 21in. long. She slept for most of the drive home. We are so happy to have the newest little member of our family home with us. She brightens up the whole house!
