6 Months Old!

Can you believe how time flies? Six months have passed already? The very best 6 months of my life! I can't even express how much joy this precious girl has brought to our family! I am so incredibly thankful for this amazing gift!
All my life I wondered, "do all parents really think that their baby is the best, most beautiful baby ever?" Well, now that I have Savannah, I can honestly say that I think she's the most beauiful thing I've ever seen!
I love the picture below because it is all we see these days! She has learned how to make motor boat noises and never stops! The picture above is the only one of about 10 pictures that I took tonight where she isn't making the motor boat noises. It's adorable (or at least it was the first 2 days), but I feel like I am constantly apologizing to people for my baby spitting on them. And if anyone knows how to teach her not to do this while she's eating, I'd love some advice!

Splashin' in the Tub

Savi loves bath time! I think she would stay in there all day- even after the water had lost any bit of warmth it had. She kicks her legs and flaps her arms up and down and makes all kinds of sounds with her mouth. Lately, I've been letting all the water drain out of the tub before I take her out, because she even enjoys rolling around in the tub without any water. It sounds crazy, but she loves it! Someday I'll have to just see how long she'd stay in there before it lost it's excitement, because we have never reached that point with her.

Savi and Daddy

I love my family! Our time together in the mornings is always so precious! Seeing your baby and your husband loving each other is one of the very best things on this earth! I pray they always adore each other as much as they do right now!

And, our newest thing (September 26th)... watch the video (again, I apologize it's sideways, but it kinda works itself out because she rolls around) and listen to Savi's answer to the question, "Who's your favorite guy?"...

And here is another clip of her attempt at "Da Da". It may not be the best "da da" you've ever heard, but it sure makes her daddy happy!

Sitting Up!

So, our sweet girl is beginning to sit up on her own. She has been pretty good at "tripoding" for the last few weeks, and then over the last week she started to sit up on her own for a few seconds at a time, but quickly tips over. But she is continuing to improve every day and was even able to sit up long enough for me to get a picture of her (though, I had to catch her about 5 times before I actually got the shot!). She should have it down pretty well before her six month birthday (only 4 days from now!).

How long has it been since my last post?

No, this is not Savannah's older sister, it's just the difference in her hair being combed and having bed-head. Looking at my last post about rice cereal and looking at these pictures made me laugh. She looks so much older! But don't worry, I really do think it's just the hair!

Big Girl Food!!

We finally did it! We finally decided to try giving Savannah some rice cereal (September 8th, for our records). It was a big step for her mommy and daddy because it's the first step of "weaning" her. Even though this process will continue for the next seven months probably and not something that will happen all at once, it's still a little sad. But it was a lot of fun, too! We had fun buying the cereal, washing her bowls and spoons, getting all ready (can you tell we REALLY love being her parents?). We had the video camera and photo camera all charged up and ready. And, what'd she think? (Look at her savoring that first taste! Heaven on a spoon!)She loved it of course! We never really doubted she would. The girl LOVES food! I think I could have taken pictures all day of her! She just looked too cute sitting in her high chair. I'm sharing just SOME of the pictures (yes, this IS me being selective, I wanted to post a lot more!) Open wide! We couldn't get it to her fast enough! She wanted to feed herself. We had to wrestle with her to keep the spoon out of her hand. She wanted it to keep coming! We even got a video of her taking her first few bites. I don't know how to rotate the video so it's not on it's side. If anyone knows, please tell me for future posts! I hope you all still enjoy this sideways video clip :)

I'm sure you'll see lots more "eating" videos in the weeks to come. Rice cereal is just the beginning!

Saturday Night at the Drive-In

Saturday night we went to the drive in theater- just the three of us. It was such a fun night! We got there early and enjoyed the night. It was such a cute place! They played oldies music before the movie started and there's a little playground and swings up by the big screen. They have chairs and radios if you want to sit outside your car and watch. They also have a concession stand where you can get hamburgers, hotdogs, and all kinds of junk food. Cole turned the car around, layed the seats down and spread out a blanket so we could watch the movie with the tailgate up.Savannah fell asleep half way through the first movie (which was a little difficult with the huge movie playing in front of her) and then Cole and I ordered popcorn and drinks and watched the second movie together. It was a lot of fun- definitely a night I'll remember. Hopefully we'll do it again soon!

Labor Day

For Labor Day, Cole, Savannah, and I went to the NC Life and Science Museum in Durham with the Lotts. We really enjoyed the museum and had fun being out of the house and spending time together. Here are a few photos from our day.A lot of the museum is outside. It was beautiful, but hot! The girls were troopers, though.
The girls (Kate and Savi) in their strollers. Isn't Kate a beauty?

How'd She Do That?

So, I put Savi down on her back on her floor mat the other day (right in the very center, so she could play with the hanging toys) and started sorting through the mail. I had my eyes off of her for just a few minutes and when I looked back at her this is how I found her. How did she do that? I can't figure it out!

Watauga Lake, Baby!

We just got back from a fantastic week in Butler, TN. My parents rented a house on Watauga Lake and my whole family met there for the whole week. We had a good bit of rain that kept us in the house for a few days, but we still had a great time! My cousin Abby and her little boy John met us there for the first night. It was great seeing you, Abby, and finally getting to meet that adorable little man! Too bad I never got a single picture! We had lots of time to hang out with the babies, read books (The Shack), play games, compete in Wii competitions, and just relax. We went for a walk around the neighborhood one night which was one of Savannah's favorite parts of the weekend, I think. She cooed and sang and giggled the whole time! The twins were both asleep by the end of the walk, but Savannah was wide awake! She loved having the wind in her hair. It was so sweet to watch. We also did a photo scavenger hunt one day to get us out of the house even though the weather wasn't great. It only lasted about 30 minutes (I have a very competative family!) but it was a lot of fun and we got some funny pictures. Here's two of my favorites from my camera. The last day was beautiful and we were able to get a pontoon boat for the day. I figured we'd spend an hour on the boat with the babies and then I'd head back with mom and Joelle to put the girls down for naps, but they did great on the boat! Pressley even took a turn behind the wheel for a while...All three ended up falling asleep in people's arms. We stopped twice so everyone could jump in the water and cool off and the twins loved it immediately! Savannah took a little longer to get comfortable in the water but eventually did and started to enjoy it, too. Savannah really started noticing and enjoying her cousins for the first time. She loved playing with them and touching their faces. I'm not sure they appreciated it completely, but they were great sports.

You can tell Lyla's used to playing with another baby...And you can tell Savannah's still figuring it out...Savannah laughed and smiled so big when we let her get face-to-face with Pressley! She couldn't help herself from squeezing her cheeks (but who can blame her?)

It is always so wonderful being with family! It just makes me burst with joy to see others loving our little girl! Brent and Katie are so great with the girls and it's always such a special treat to be with them.Next trip we're going to visit Granddaddy and Mimi Varner! It's been too long since we've gotten to spend time with you two and the Porths! Savannah misses you and can't wait to be in your arms again!!
